What Is Virtuoso Travel Week — And Why We Never Miss It

Every August, while most of New York is trying to escape the heat, the Huckleberry Travel team packs a suitcase and heads straight for it — to Las Vegas, for Virtuoso Travel Week. It’s one week a year that quietly shapes almost everything we’re able to do for our clients for the twelve months that follow, and we think it’s worth explaining why.

The “Fashion Week” of luxury travel

Virtuoso is the invitation-only luxury travel network that Huckleberry Travel is proud to be affiliated with through our host agency, Uniglobe Travel Center. Once a year, Virtuoso brings its global community together for Travel Week: several days of back-to-back meetings between travel advisors like us and the hotel brands, cruise lines, tour operators, and destination specialists we work with on behalf of clients. In 2025, that meant more than 4,800 advisors and suppliers from over 100 countries converging on the Bellagio, Aria, Vdara, and Cosmopolitan properties on the Strip. And we’re going back this week!

People in the industry have called it the Fashion Week of travel for a reason: advisors sit “front row,” meeting one-on-one with the people who actually run the hotels, ships, and tours our clients dream about — not just their marketing departments. The format has evolved over the years (self-scheduled one-on-one meetings, “Brain Dates,” networking events), but the core of it hasn’t changed since the event’s earliest days decades ago: it’s still built around rapid-fire appointments where a supplier has exactly enough time to tell us what’s new, what’s exclusive, and what they can do for our travelers - sort of like “speed dating” but with hoteliers and cruise and tour executives.

What we’re actually doing all week

It’s not just meetings. Travel Week opens with Community Globetrotting sessions — deep dives into categories like adventure, cruise, culinary, wellness, and family travel — followed by a Travel Tech Summit and a full slate of educational programming before the appointment schedule even begins. Across the week, our small team ends up sitting down with several hundred hotel, cruise, and tour partners between us. It’s exhausting in the best way — by Friday we’ve usually gone through more coffee than we’d like to admit — but every single one of those conversations becomes a resource we can call on the next time a client needs something specific: a particular room category at a property that’s normally sold out, an off-menu private dinner, or the direct line to a guide who actually lives in the place we’re sending someone.

Why it actually matters to you

This is the part clients don’t always see: the reason a Huckleberry Travel advisor can get you a room upgrade, a bottle of your favorite wine waiting in your suite, or a private after-hours visit somewhere that normally requires months of notice isn’t magic — it’s relationships, and most of them get built or renewed during this one week. It’s also, increasingly, why more travelers are choosing to work with an advisor at all. Virtuoso’s own research (drawn from its network’s roughly $90 billion in annual transaction volume) found a 76% jump in consumers searching for a travel advisor on Virtuoso.com, with safety and trip protection — not just perks — now cited by 75% of luxury travelers as their top reason for using one. The same research showed luxury travel spending up 12% year over year through mid-2025, hotel bookings up nearly 26%, and future bookings over $50,000 up 35% — proof that even amid economic uncertainty, travelers are still investing in trips that matter, and increasingly want an expert managing the details.

We’ve felt that shift firsthand. The connections we renew every August at Travel Week are the same ones that let us send clients to dozens of countries across every continent each year, often solving a problem — a cancelled flight, a sold-out resort, a once-in-a-lifetime request — before a client even knows there was one to solve.

The bottom line

Virtuoso Travel Week isn’t a vacation for us — it’s where we stock up, for an entire year, on the relationships that make your vacation better. So the next time your Huckleberry advisor mentions a new property they’re excited about, or manages to secure something that seemed impossible, there’s a good chance the groundwork was laid on a ballroom floor in Las Vegas, one four-minute meeting at a time.
