alaska cruisetours

We're sending a lot of travelers to Alaska this summer. And, considering that it's a domestic destination, it's kind of surprising that we're getting questions about traveling to Alaska as though it were a foreign country. Or maybe not. I mean, you're in the US, for sure and yet, Alaska is it's own destination. It's not like going to an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean. It's not like doing a European tour. It's a unique destination and the travel options for Alaska are totally different.

Alaska is enormous, and you can't just fly into Anchorage, rent a car and expect to have an authentic, immersive experience. So much of Alaska's beauty is only accessible from the sea. That's why we recommend a cruisetours for Alaska.

An Alaska cruisetour combines an Alaska Cruise Vacation with an Alaska Land Vacation to make a Cruisetour. You can explore the heart of Alaska, including Mt. Denali and Denali National Park. You travel by deluxe motor coach or rail, you stay at exquisite, mountain lodges and you can view wildlife in its natural habitat. To truly see Alaska's impressive shoreline as well as its interior, a cruise tour is the only way to go.

On the cruise portion: you'll visit destinations that simply aren't accessible by road. You can see glaciers and wildlife, cruise through the inside passage, visiting gold rush towns that are isolated from the rest of Alaska by road, but easy destinations as a stop on a cruise.

And, companies like Princess Cruises make sure that the cruise portion of your cruise tour are authentic and immersive. They'll bring actual lumberjacks onboard to demonstrate their skills. You can also meet an Iditarod winner, and meet sleddog puppies. They even have a "cook your catch" program, where you can catch a fish on your shore excursion, and the chef will prepare it for your lunch or dinner.

Then, for the land portion of the cruise tour, you can go directly from the boat to the interior of Alaska, to visit the amazing National Parks and gorgeous wilderness lodges of the interior of Alaska. You'll see more fantastic wildlife and more incredible scenery during your journey into the interior of the real Alaska.

With so many cruise lines operating their own cruisetours, there's certainly a tour for any travel style or budget, but personally, we're partial to Princess Cruises. They're consistently rated as the best line to Alaska, and with their partnership with Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, their excursions and activities are especially immersive.

If you're thinking about an Alaska vacation for this summer, it's not too late to book an incredible cruise tour. Just send us a note, and we'll find the perfect fit for you!
