pelotonia for national cancer survivors month

For several years, now, my sister and niece have been riding for dozens of miles across the rolling countryside of Ohio to raise money for cancer research.  A couple of years ago, I did the ride, myself, for the first time, without training for it. (It was kind of a last-minute opportunity.)  It was really rewarding, and this year, I'm riding again--going back to my hometown--and I'm hoping that my friends will be generous enough to help end cancer. I've got faith that they will, which is why I've set a goal that's higher than the minimum for my ride. Oh, and David, the other half of Huckleberry Travel, is riding to end cancer, as well!

I'm going to be riding in honor of my dear friend Kristine England, who won her battle with leukemia last year, and who was our roommate, briefly, while she recovered from her bone marrow transplant. And, in case you didn't notice, she's also a contributing writer to this site.

I'm also riding to honor the memory of other friends, who haven't been as successful in their fights against cancer.

But mostly, I'm riding because 100% of the money I raise will go directly to fund life-saving cancer research at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

There are a couple of ways you can help.  If you'd like, you can make a direct donation to Thomas's ride if you...

And, if you'd like to donate to David's ride--and keep in mind, he's doing a longer ride, so he'd really appreciate your support, you can ...

Or, if you book a qualifying adventure travel trip through us in the month of June, Huckleberry Travel will make a donation to Pelotonia in your honor.  And we have lots of phenomenal adventure travel trips, including cycling, hiking and multi-sport trips, light adventure travel, adventure travel for families, adventure travel for active seniors, and even a few formidable trekking excursions. Contribute to life-saving cancer research and take an amazing vacation, too? Sounds like a win-win situation!

Perhaps you want to camp on the ice in Antarctica like we did? That could fund life-saving cancer research!

Of course, if you wanted to donate for yourself, AND book a trip with us...well...we're down with that, as well.

Let's end cancer, once and for all.

Founded in 2008, Pelotonia is a grassroots movement with One Goal End Cancer. Pelotonia has raised over $130 million for cancer research. Last year, 7,749 Riders from 40 states and 9 countries participated along with 2,616 Virtual Riders and 2,794 Volunteers. Please join me in supporting this cause.
